Detailed sketch map of the delta of the River Indus by British Naval officer and hydrographer, Lieutenant Thomas Greer Carless (1806-1848).
This map is from his 1838 survey of the Indus River, an important body of work that resulted in the first survey of Karachi Harbour. This mapping was in anticipation of the 1839 occupation and development of the city as a major port by the British East India Company.
