Description:
This extraordinary wall map of Bhutan, still one of the most inaccessible places on earth, is based mainly on the surveys of Professor Pradyumna P. Karan of the University of Kentucky. Karan is Professor Emeritus of Geography with an expertise on South Asia. Although much of the geography is derived from Karan's own surveys of Bhutan made in 1961 and 1964, he also cites the Survey of India, the Royal Geographical Society, the Office of Commonwealth Relations, Whitehall and the British Museum Library as sources for this map. It is almost certainly the most detailed map available of this region for the time. Most unusually, it is also printed on linoleum, likely for preservation purposes. [Tube] [IC2504]
