Description:

|
Bellin's important and early map of Australia is the finest 18th Century depiction of the continent before explorations by Captain James Cook, despite the imaginary nature of the South and East coastline.
This is the Dutch edition of the map by Jakob van der Schley. The differences between this example and the earlier 1753 French edition is the addition of a Dutch title, and annotations translated into Dutch across the map.
