Description:

|
| The maps, drawn and engraved by J. Rapkin, include Madeira, The Azores, The Cape Verde Islands, The Canary Islands, and the Bermudas – or Summer Islands. Also represented to the bottom right of the piece is a section of the West Coast of Africa. Little detail is given to them though the major towns and ports of each are noted. The volcanic relief of Maderia and a couple of the Canaries is also shown, as is the coral reef around the Bermudas, marked with small black crosses as a warning for sailors. The majority of the detail can be found in the five profile illustrations by H. Winkles. Intricate and beautiful the views of Funchal, Teneriffe, Villa Franca, Faval, Pico, and the Chapel in the Rock of St. Vincent are a part of what then became one of the last decorative atlases ever to be produced. |
