Description:

|
A fine example of the first printed map of Wales. The geographical details were largely provided by Humphrey Llwyd, a respected Welsh cartographer, author and Member of Parliament. Llwyd met Ortelius while touring Europe in 1566, and later collaborated on the production of this map which was added to Ortelius' celebrated atlas, 'Theatrum Orbis Terrarum'. A map of England and Wales and a work on the history of the druids on Angelsey by Llwyd also appeared in Ortelius' atlas.
