Description:
|
|
A fabulously decorative map of the Kingdom of Morocco with two large inset views of Marrakesh and Meknes, the former capital, and a splendid title cartouche featuring a lion, an ostrich, and a horned snake. Designed and published by Johann Cristoph Homann who took over the Homann firm after the death of his father, Johann Baptist, in 1724. Johann Cristoph died just six years later, so maps with his imprint are quite scarce. Madiera and the Canary Islands are also featured. Original hand-colour. [AFR5944] |
