Stunning brass solar system model showing the relative sizes and distances of the planets and select asteroids around the Sun.

Constellations line the inside of the horizon band and there is a description for use a-top this band. The planisphere orb is presented upon a traditional style metal base.

Henry L Bryant (1812-1881) was an artist from Hartford, Connecticut. He obtained a patent (No. #131,148) for the celestial indicator in 1872. His invention of half-armillary sphere, half-orrery has a winding mechanism to demonstrate the astronomical phenomena that is the orbit of the planets.

Other known examples of the Bryant Celestial Indicator are in the National Museum of American History, the Smithsonian Institute and Connecticut Historical Society.
