The first cartographic record of Lord Howe Island, a small outcrop on the Tasman Sea and peculiarly, a part the State of New South Wales. This charming small map is the cartographic record of Lieut. Henry Lidgbird Ball, captain of His Majesty's Tender of Supply to the First Fleet. He claimed the island on behalf of the British Crown and it became part of the British Colonies and subsequently of the State of New South Wales. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its diverse natural habitat. [AUNZ2801] |
