Plan of the Wimbledon Park Estate showing the plots of land for sale between Arthur Road and Alexandra Road, just south of the modern-day Wimbledon Park. This map was produced by the agents for the sale, Messrs. Chinnock, Galsworthy, & Chinnock to publicize the large freehold lots, all of which have since been subdivided for development. The southern edge of Wimbledon Park does appear on the map as far as the lake. The names of prominent residents of the estate are given, including Sir Joseph Bazalgette, the celebrated civil engineer responsible for London's embankments and sewer system.
Original hand-colour. Backed with original linen. [LDN6350] (BC) |
