Beautiful and famous rendition of the Southeast coast of the United States covering Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia and Northern Florida. The coastline is accurate for its time but the interior is full of mythical creatures and erroneous assumptions, including the depiction of the famous large freshwater lake on the left. Based on two earlier maps by Le Moyne and White. Two depictions of native american villages flank the cartouche. These were based on the images published by Theodor de Bry.
