Description:

The second printed map to show the entirety of Australia, including the discoveries of Freycinet and Flinders. This map was published within a year of Freycinet's landmark map of the continent, the first to correctly show the full outline of Australia. It contains the most up-to-date information available. In three locations disputed English names, as designated by Flinders, are shown in parentheses alongside the French names.
The wonderful vignette featuring a wombat, a bandicoot, and an Aboriginal hunter is based on the drawings by Charles Lesueur, a naturalist who sailed to Australia on the Baudin expedition of 1801 and collected over 100,000 specimens.
