Extraordinary celestial chart describing the Ptolemaic solar system. Centring on the Earth and surrounded by allegorical repesentations of the planets, Earth's Moon and the Sun, who are shown in a chariot race.
Surrounding the solar system, a Zodiac Wheel. Placed in the centre, as per perception at the time, the Earth is shown on a northern polar projection, detailing California as an island, and with an unfinished coastline in the northwest Pacific.
The figures adorning the lower corners with globes, instruments, books, and maps are said to be Aristotle (left) and Ptolemy (right).
