Famously distorted version of Norway first issued by Pieter van der Aa in 1714 and here re-issued by Covens and Mortier after they acquired the plates.
Van der Aa was far better known as a publisher and compiler of maps and prints rather than a cartographer but as an exception this extremely distorted map of Norway does not seem to have an original source, suggesting that it was his own work. Original hand colour. [SCAN2507] |
