Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan. Detailed map of the region between the Caspian Sea and the Himalayas.
This map was engraved by Sidney Hall to illustrate James Mill's The History of British India (1817). Mill, an author and political philsopher, spent twelve years compiling his history of British India. The book promoted the contemporary Imperialist idea of British rule as a civilizing force and attacked the climate, industry, and cultures of the sub-continent. It became the standard reference work for supporters of the British Empire in India.
