Description:

|
Large and exquisitely decorative city plan of Naples, embellished with seven engraved views of the city's harbour, castles, and market, as well as a wonderful view of Mt. Vesuvius erupting. The map's title describes the city as the grandest and most richly decorated with many military forts, and as a flourishing mercantile port. This is no exaggeration: in the 17th century Naples was the second largest city in Europe, boasting a population over 250,000.
