Detailed map of Tibet showing the explorations and journeys of Dr. Sven Hedin between 1906 and 1908.
Hedin (1865-1952) was a Swedish geographer, explorer and artist. Following his third expedition in Central Asia (starting in 1905), he investigated the western highlands of Tibet, Nepal and the Trans-Himalaya, becoming the first European to reach the region surrounding Mount Kailash (circled in red on the map), as well as discovering the sources of the Rivers Indus and Brahmaputra in Lake Manasarovar (just south of Mount Kailash on the map).
