Elegant copper-engraved map of Korea and Japan from Thomson's 'New General Atlas'. The interior of Japan is still quite empty, a testament to Japan's isolationist policies. The mapping of Korea is far superior, though the shape of the peninsula is still quite distorted from reality and there are still areas where little was known to European mapmakers.
