This exquisite and richly coloured comparative diagram shows the relative heights of the mountains and the relative lengths of the rivers of the world in an imaginative tableau The mountain names and heights are listed, divided by continent, in an index in the margins. When this diagram was published in 1834, neither the height of Mt Everest, nor the full length of the Nile had been determined, so both are denied their rightful spots as the tallest and longest.
