Miniature map of the west coast of Africa, including modern Nigeria, Ivory Coast. Ghana, Sierra Leone and Senegal.
This lovely miniature is based on Portuguese sources. Although many of the names used on the map have disappeared or are no longer in use, it does show the Kingdom of Benin, the Kingdom of the Mandingas, in modern terms the Mandinka people and the settlement of Mina or also known as Elmina Castle.
