Description:

Rare early woodcut of Scandinavia, one of the earliest maps to focus on the region. Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland are mostly recognizable, though extremely distorted. Derived from a map by Martin Waldseemuller, one of the leading cartographers of the 16th century, and published in the 1541 edition of Ptolemy's "Geographia" with maps by Laurent Fries & Martin Waldseemuller, text by Michael Servetus, and published by Gaspar Treschel.
