Description:

Early copper-engraved map of the American Southwest, the second-earliest obtainable map of California, Florida, Mexico, Texas, and the Southwest. Published by Ruscelli in his 1564 edition of Ptolemy's "Geographia". The map is essentially a slightly-enlarged version of Giacomo Gastaldi's 1548 map, but with several minor revisions: the Yucatan peninsula is now shown as connected to Mexico. The legendary Seven Cities of Cibola are confidently located in northwest Mexico.
